Igwe Hyacinth Edeani Applauds Custos Care Foundation’s WASH Sensitisation in Amaechi-Idodo  In a bid to promote better Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) practices, Custos Care Foundation took its sensitisation campaign to Amaechi-Idodo in Nkanu East Local Government Area, where the team was warmly received by His Royal Highness, Igwe Hyacinth Edeani, Ezeoha I of Amaechi-Idodo, Chairman of the Traditional Rulers Council, Nkanu East.   Welcoming the delegation, HRH Igwe Edeani acknowledged the significance of the initiative and commended Custos Care Foundation for its commitment to improving hygiene and sanitation standards in communities. Custos Care Foundation Takes Child Abuse Sensitisation to Primary Schools in Amaechi Idodo, Nkanu East. Recognising the urgent need to protect children from abuse and create safer learning environments, Custos Care Foundation, in collaboration with the Office of the First Lady of Enugu State, organised a sensitisation programme at Uzam Community Schools, Amaechi Idodo, Nkanu East Local Government Area. This initiative is part of the foundation’s ongoing efforts to educate children, teachers, and communities on child abuse, bullying, and the collective responsibility to safeguard young lives.       Comr. Egodi Igwe, Managing Director of Custos Care Foundation, set the tone with interactive activities that went beyond traditional learning. Through singing, games, and engaging discussions, the children were encouraged to express their dreams, creating an open and supportive atmosphere. Following this, Dr. Uzoamaka Okenwa Uzoechina, Technical Adviser on Gender Matters, led an eye-opening discussion on child abuse. She spoke about recognising the warning signs, the importance of speaking up, and how teachers and caregivers can play a vital role in protecting children. The conversation extended to bullying, with pupils sharing their personal experiences and brainstorming ways to create a more inclusive and supportive school environment. To ensure that key lessons were reinforced, a quiz competition was organised, where students who answered correctly were rewarded with prizes. But beyond learning, every child was made to feel valued, with snacks and refreshments provided for all. As the programme concluded, school authorities pledged to be more intentional about safeguarding their pupils. Enugu Youths Take a Stand Against Female Genital Mutilation(FGM)

Enugu Youths Take a Stand Against Female Genital Mutilation More than 600 female students gathered at the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Enugu State, on Thursday, 6th February, to take a stand against Female Genital Mutilation (FGM). The awareness campaign, organised by the First Lady of Enugu State in collaboration with the Custos Care Foundation, was part of activities marking the International Day of Zero Tolerance for FGM. With the theme “Step Up the Pace: Strengthening Alliances and Building Movements to End FGM,” the event provided an interactive platform for young women to learn about the dangers of FGM, share their perspectives, and commit to raising awareness within their communities. Opening the discussion, Comr. Egodi Igwe, Managing Director of Custos Care Foundation, led an interactive session where students voiced their thoughts on FGM. Many expressed strong opposition to the practice and pledged to become advocates against gender-based violence. IMT’s Deputy Rector, Dr Ejim Emeka Patrick, commended the initiative, assuring that the institution would continue to amplify the message against FGM and empower students to be change agents. He provided a detailed analysis of FGM, explaining its different forms, the severe health risks, and the psychological trauma it causes. His presentation reinforced the urgent need for education and policy-driven solutions to eliminate the practice. The students actively engaged in discussions, asking thought-provoking questions and sharing their insights. Their enthusiasm and willingness to drive change demonstrated the impact of awareness and education in the fight against FGM. Addressing the students, the First Lady of Enugu State, represented by the wife of the Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Mrs Chinyere Ugwu, stressed the collective responsibility of society in protecting young girls from harmful practices. She encouraged the students to take ownership of the campaign and become ambassadors for change. The event concluded with a strong call to action, as stakeholders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening advocacy, building alliances, and supporting policies aimed at eliminating FGM. Renowned social welfare specialist, Mrs Lillian Agbo, delivered a keynote address, sharing her personal journey and offering insights on navigating the challenges of widowhood.
